Jimi Hendrix statue
to be unveiled
Dimbola Lodge, the
former home of pioneer photographer Julia Margaret Cameron, and now home to a
museum to honour her work and that of early photography, is soon to make a new
addition to their Isle of Wight Festival exhibition. The statue of Jimi
Hendrix, who famously played the festival back in 1970, is the work of sculptor John Swindells.
The 1970 festival proved to be the last performance Hendrix made before his
death a month later, and with 600,000 people flooding the Island was the last
festival until the recent revival.
The statue will be
unveiled at Dimbola Lodge at the beginning of May. Dimbola Lodge is a part
